Spiral wound gaskets are engineered sealing components designed to handle high-pressure, high-temperature, and aggressive chemical applications. These gaskets consist of a V-shaped metal winding strip (typically stainless steel) and a soft filler material (such as graphite, PTFE, or mica), offering both structural strength and sealing flexibility.
They are widely used in the oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, and water treatment sectors due to their ability to maintain a reliable seal even under extreme thermal cycling and flange movement. Spiral wound gaskets are particularly suitable for ASME B16.5, B16.47, and DIN standard flanges.
The gasket is typically centered with a carbon steel or stainless steel inner and/or outer ring, ensuring proper compression and preventing inward buckling during installation. Common materials for the winding include SS304, SS316, SS321, or Inconel, while fillers can be graphite, PTFE (Teflon), or ceramic, based on application requirements. Click Here For Pipes
