CS Joint Flanges (LJ flanges) are two-piece components used in piping systems where frequent dismantling and alignment adjustments are required. The lap joint flange is used in combination with a stub end that is butt-welded to the pipe. The flange itself is free to rotate around the stub end, allowing easy bolt hole alignment and simplified installation, especially for large diameter or rigid piping systems.
These flanges are widely used in low-pressure and non-critical piping applications such as water distribution, fire-fighting lines, HVAC systems, chemical lines, and systems where corrosion-resistant linings or cladding is used internally. Because the flange does not come into contact with the process fluid, lap joint flanges are commonly paired with corrosion-resistant stub ends (e.g., stainless steel, alloy steel) while the backing flange remains in carbon steel for cost efficiency.

These flanges are available in pressure classes from Class 150 to 900, and are typically manufactured from ASTM A105, A350 LF2 (for low temperature service), or ASTM A516 Gr. 70.
