Sockolet is a type of self-reinforced branch connection fitting used in piping systems to connect a small diameter pipe to a larger run pipe or header at a 90° angle. It features a socket weld end, making it ideal for small bore branch connections in high-pressure and high-temperature environments.
Manufactured from forged steel (carbon steel, stainless steel, or alloy steel), Sockolets are designed for critical service applications where pipe integrity and strength are vital. The fitting is beveled on one side for welding to the main pipe and has a socket weld end on the other side, allowing the branch pipe to be inserted and fillet welded. This provides a smooth internal bore, minimizing turbulence and pressure drop, making it especially suitable for small diameter piping where full penetration welding is not required.
Sockolets are commonly used in industries such as oil & gas, petrochemicals, power plants, shipbuilding, and refineries, especially in Class 3000 to Class 9000 pressure systems. Their compact design and ease of installation make them a preferred choice over conventional reducing tees or welding saddles. click here for pipes
At Middle East Piping, we supply Sockolets in a wide range of sizes, materials, and pressure classes. Our fittings conform to international specifications such as ASME B16.11, MSS-SP-97, and are supplied with EN 10204 3.1 certification. We stock carbon steel ASTM A105, stainless steel A182 F304/F316, and alloy grades like F11 and F22. click here for valves
