SS 904L Flanges

SS 904L flanges are made from a highly alloyed austenitic stainless steel designed for superior corrosion resistance in harsh environments, particularly those containing sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and other aggressive chemicals. With a chemical composition that includes high levels of chromium (19-23%), nickel (23-28%), molybdenum (4-5%), and copper (1-2%), 904L offers excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking in chloride-rich and acidic conditions.

Developed initially for the chemical and fertilizer industries, 904L has become widely used in offshore oil & gas, pharmaceutical plants, pulp & paper, heat exchangers, and marine applications due to its excellent corrosion resistance and good weldability. The addition of copper significantly enhances its resistance to strong reducing acids like sulfuric acid, making it one of the best choices where traditional stainless steels fail.
